I used to own an aluminum boat in fresh water.
(www.ctlow.ca/StellaB/StellaB.html) Had to overcome quite an electrolysis
problem at one point. Built like a tank but not as heavy! Any specific
questions? Wanna read a book about it?

I really hate to be on topic.....but Aluminium boating was my dream
until about ten years ago. I had a friend that owned a nice 36 that was
built in Virginia (I think) and we went out for the week-end.

This is a very strong material but it's noisy under way and the other
factor I found was that it is very Lively. When you board it and when
the guests move around the deck while at anchor.

Seems stable under power otherwise.

They offer very good value for the buck but have their own following for
sure.

Im not a fan of aluminum boats either- galvanic corrosion, noisy, loose
rivets or bad welds- I wouldn't want to sit in anything that may have been a
beer can once.

You're right, I'm not. I assume they build them better out there then they
do in Ontario. Still though, I think it's more just a preference thing.
