We rented a Sea Doo Bombarder this weekend and absolutely loved it! We are
really thinking of purchasing one either this year or next year. One of the
major concerns we have is the safety "kill" switch that automatically shuts off
the jetski if you fall off. Which models and year have this vs. the ones that
has the jet ski go in circles? Does anyone know the year that they changed the
mechansim. Any other info you can provide is appreciated!

thanks!

I think you'll find all jetskis have kill switches (lanyards). You don't
want the boat running while it's upsidedown in the water, or circling around
for the kill while you're in the water. lol! Of course, you need to WEAR the
lanyard or it does no good.

Jetskis are pretty safe though. The only dangers are hitting structures or
other boats, and I suppose you could slam your body into the craft itself if
you were going really fast and hit a wave wrong, but most likely you'll fall
off first. Both can be well avoided by watching your speed and staying well
away from other boats.

With that said, it's easier than you think to come up on something that
looked far away seconds before, or cross into a path of another boat. Just
stay clear and look around often. Most other boats will not even see you, or
recognize your right of way. But it's not a big deal. The best thing about a
jetski is that you can stop and start up at full speed in a matter of
seconds (while larger boats take a lot of time and power to get off and on
that plane).

No modern ski (or any sitdown ski) will "circle"

Some early standups had that functionality, but pretty much anything you buy
today will have a safety lanyard (unless it's been defeated somehow.)
