Aftermarket Rudder - Can anyone tell me where I might be able to buy a rudder to put on an older kayak I was given. It has a single pin mounting hole. I had heard Yakima makes a light weight rudder, but I didn't see them on their web sight. Thanks, Jerry

This may sound disgusting to diehard J-strokers but I've read that some solo
marathon canoeists fit a rudder to sleek canoes such as Wenonah Advantage or
Wenonah Voyager.

I can see how this would make sense, especially in windy conditions, if you
are out there for many many hours.

My questions is, which equipment did people purchase / use and are there
outfitters out there that will retrofit the gear, or can this be tackled by
the semi-competent DIYer?

I wonder what the down sides of a rudder setup might be. You presumably
lose the fore-aft adjustability of the footrest and thus, of the seat to
some extent.

Lastly, precisely what sort of steering mechanisms are in use - are we
talking pedals or some sort of tiller bar etc.
