The make over doesn't appear to have improved it.

Maybe not, but give it chance, new users have to stumble across it yet.
Plus some ISP's, Blueyonder included, are not carrying it for various
reasons - some manually add them periodically, Blueyonder say they don't
have the disk space to add new groups until the summer (a poor show).

In the end, it can only be better... Smile<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

it's propagating across Europe. Forget Blueyonder and get your news
from elsewhere Berlin for instance.

I did, news.individual.net and I've found it to be an excellent news
serivce. Much better than BY's poor attempt - especially for a company
the size of Telewest.

Blueyonder is not at all bad for binaries groups............but is indeed
cr@p for text news groups.

Nice website by the way. I enjoyed reading your cruising stories,
especially the one inc the Dee and Mersey.

Just out of interest, is there anywhere (besides the estuary) that you
can launch on the Mersey? Up Warrington way or further down river
towards the estuary? It would make for an interesting change and it must
be navigable...??

TIA

The Dee bit was only an explo...............that should be knocked off this
April, the last bit of tidal water for Earnest to visit.

The Mersey above Warrington and the non tidal section above Howley Weir
(just to the east of Warrington) is MSCC jurisdiction.........and they DON'T
welcome boaters!
There is a slipway at Fiddler's Ferry Yot Club and in the disused second
lock chamber at Widnes - West Bank (Spike Island)...........but as you have
seen from my website that Mersey does rather flood like a train!

What size company says it hasn't the resources to fix your line, even if
it has been down for six weeks? My phone is back on today after being
down since early December.. and the internet connection after going down
last Wednesday night. Telewest's service is badly compromised by its
lack of resources, properly applied. If you've a choice, look elsewhere.
I will be.

Fiddlers Ferry Boat Club - or into the Sankey at Spike Island, and then
via the lock onto the Mersey.

The Mersey at Warrington is not under their jurisdiction - they are
under a legal obligation to keep the channel clear below Howley, but it
confers no rights on them as far as traffic is concerned. I don't know
above the weir - it's still tidal, and tidal waters are free to
navigate.

No choice here as no ADSL. Cable only for the forseable future and
therefore I'm stuck with Badyonder.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

He certainly didn't stop Chris Cowburn and Nigel Bowker sailing up to
the weir... Wink
