Post subject: pcv valve mercruiser 3.0
Archived from groups: can>rec>boating (more info?)

I have a 1999 mercruiser 3.0. I have a question that I hope someone
can answer. Does this engine come equipped with a pcv valve in the
valve cover? Presently, there is what appears to be a pcv valve
installed but when I removed the plastic piece that would normally
house the valve, it wasn't there. I noticed that the hose coming from
this plastic piece just routes to the flame arrestor and doesn't
connect to any vacuum.
If anyone has any insight on this I would appreciate it.
thank you

Sounds suspicious. if you can obtain a manual for that engine do so. It should include that information. Alternatively ask your dealer. The usual reason for getting rid of a PCV valve is to disguise excessive engine blow by which is a potential sign of engine wear.
