I am almost ready to paint my nesting 2-paw-9 dinghy but am not sure
how. I have not put the coat of epoxy over the wood and am wondering
if I should just color the epoxy. If I put the epoxy on first, what
kind of paint should I use?

If you colour the epoxy the same colour as the paint then paint scrapes
won't show as much. If you don't colour the epoxy and paint the boat the
same colour as the wood then paint scrapes still won't show as much. You
should put something over the epoxy to keep the sun's rays from gradually
breaking it down.

ordinary exterior grade latex house paint is good. it sluffs off gradually
instead of peeling like oil based paints tend to do. I used an acrylic
latex house paint on the Dogskff in 1999 and it's still good where it
hasn't been scraped and scratched. I used acrylic because that is what
they had cheap at the building materials recycle store in a decent colour.
However, TF Jones writes that he uses ordinary exterior latex house paint on
the boats he builds.

Unfortunately, I already see some problems with this nesting design.
It will be very difficult to assemble on the foredeck of my large boat
and impossible while in the water. I suspect that I will have to
carry two large C clamps to hold the two halves together while I put
in the bolts that hold the two halves together. It'll be an
interesting experiment but I may be forced to go to an inflatable.
I have taken some pics of this boat (it looks like crap being
unpainted yet) and have produced about 10 pages of text and pics of
the MiniCups. Now, I realize I have no idea of how to post these.
Any suggestions?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
