Hopefully this is not too stupid of a question.
I have a Kawasaki 650sx (stand-up model) which would appear to be
for single riders only. I would like to take my children (5 and Cool for
rides (with life jackets).

We won't be going fast or buzzing others - but would it be illegal
(specifically in California)? I am sure the 650sx has a max capacity rating
- though I don't know it.
I have seen several people mention they were 225+ and riding, so I should
be able to add my 8 year old and not hit that mark, but is it illegal?

The 650SX is classed as a single person craft so you would be exceeding
the person capacity of the unit. With that being said we have gotten 3
adults on a 550 standup. Smile

No, just 3 people with a good sense of balance. One on the nose and
two in the tray.
