I was thinking of hitting some surf near Nag's Head, NC, after the eye
pushes through. Anyone ever surfed hurricane waves?

I have done it in Florida. The most challenging part was going in and out
through the surf zone. You want spilling waves, not something that closes
out from top to bottom. Either way, wait for a lull and paddle out through
it. Once offshore its pretty cool. Like a washing machine with big waves. A
lot of movement. Its easy to stay stable if you keep paddling. Every now and
then you will realize a wave is going to break on top of you if you don't
move real quick.

Have fun.
