I am building a Riviera runabout using the old Popular Mechanics plans
as my starting point. I have modified the length, beam, stem, and a
bunch of other details. I have been informally studying boat design
and construction for the past couple of years so I think (??) I know
what I'm doing.

I like to talk to anyone who has built a similar type of boat.

Sounds like an old Glen-L design. Glen-L is still very much in business
and they have a website with a builders notice board. You might try
that at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.glen-l.com/" target="_blank">http://www.glen-l.com/</a>

Are you talking about the plans wich are on the Svensons website?

And what do you want to modify??

I think you can better use the Glen-L plans because this boat is bigger and
has a much better look.
The plans you have are based on this boat but this boat is easier to build
but the Glen-L boat looks much better.

Shortcut for replacing plywood core? - I have a Rhodes 22 sailboat with some plywood core in the bow that turned to mush. Water entered through a poorly sealed hole for a cowl. Last October I scraped out the rotted core using wire. I was able to do this from the existing cowl hole. The core I...

Plywood vs. Strip-Plank - Is there a rule (scantling) for replacing plywood with strip-plank? That is, if plywood of X millimeters is specified for a hull, then what should the thickness of the strip planks be? I do have a vague idea of doubling; in other words, using 12mm strip...

Single person boat built out of two liter bottles - I want to build a boat out of two liter soda bottles. Why? Why not? I can make the time and the space to do it and it's something I've wanted to do for a while. I've looked on the web, but haven't found any sites on doing something like this or any..
