Post subject: Yamaha 93vxr - fuel system question
Archived from groups: rec>sport>jetski (more info?)

Took my waverunner down to the lake today for the first time this
season and having tough time starting it. It turns over fine but didnt
start.
1 At the end of last season I did fill up the tank and add stabl and
removed the battery. Hooked the batery up to a charger so that is fine.
2 At the lake I checked the plugs and they were basically dry - but
replaced them anyway. 3 Sprayed quick start fluid in the cylinders and
the engine did kick over but once the starter fluid burned off,
nothing.
4 I checked the fuel filter and noticed that there was gas, but only in
the bottom half of the filter(below the line level)
5 I removed the gas cap to remove any pressure from the winter storage
period

Is there a way I can determine if my fuel system is not pumping the
fuel from the gas tank? I don't want to start needlesly replacing
parts, starting at the fuel cock, if this is unnecessary. Any help
would be appreciated. The local service shop has a 4 week backlog and
am dying to get the bugger on the water

Thanks

Tom

Tom,
You need to clean your carb. Could be a stuck needle/seat or check
valves. Fuel filter in carb could be stopped up. I have seen a lot of
carb problems since Katrina. People mostly put them up and are just
now to getting around to taking them out to the lake.
