Hi There -

My in-laws are looking at picking up a new Four Winns 170 outboard w/ 115HP
Johnson...

Any comments or links to reviews for this selection? Any other suggestions
for a family-focused outboard in the $15-20K range?

They need the boat for their island cottage in Ontario Canada. The boat
will be used for recreation and crossings to and from the cottage.

Thanks!
Doug

Douglas,

It's important to have a dealer that is close to you. There are several other
options in your price range (assuming those are US$). Here is one to consider
that will give you more engine options:

Can you get to a boat show before you buy? That's the best place to see several
boats in one place. Check the standard options. You will always spend some big
bucks to outfit the boat after your buy it so the more you get up front, the
better!

I would also highly recommend an EFI four stroke motor. Quiet, no smoke from
burning oil, better fuel economy, and easier starting.

Good luck!
Dan
