Post subject: Water in motor!!!
Archived from groups: rec>sport>jetski (more info?)

1996 Seadoo XP, had issues with the starter motor, or so I thought. I
replace the starter unit, boat ran for about three weeks. I had a
rather larger friend over, and as you know the XP is a small machine.
He continued to dump the thing, most of the day to the point the unit
would not turn over. I was thinking battery or starter again. Once I
charged the battery and again replacing the starter motor, it would not
turn over. I removed the plugs, turned the motor over and watched about
a quart of water pump out of the jugs...

Okay where could the water of come from? Lets assume the no cracks or
blown gaskets. How do I remove the water?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Your motor is/was hydrolocked. This most likely came from a lot of water
getting into the hull... which was then sucked into the carbs, filling the
crankcase and cylinders.

The clock is ticking right now and you have about 24 hours to get it running
and warmed-up before serious and permanent damage is done to your engine
(internal rust). You probably don't have time to get it to a dealer.

If you're not familiar with "curing" a hydrolocked engine, I suggest you go
over to Sea-Doo.net and search the board for posts on the subject. There
are probably hundreds of them. I believe there is also a "Tech Tip" there
regarding hydrolock. If that doesn't work for you... post back here and
we'll try and talk you through the process.
