I agree... Don't do it... My boat has 2 9DBs on it, one for each radio
BUT, I understand many people cannot do this... I rigged my previous
boat has the MAIN radio on the MAIN antenna. The backup (Cabin radio)
is connect to a small antenna (3' I think... typical sailboat antenna)
that I left stuffed vertically in a side compartment... not great for
long range but the cabin radio is usually used to talk to other boats in
the marina (When's happy hour.. etc), listening the the weather, etc
etc. I also ran an EXTRA wire from the back on one radio to the other
and keep a F-F aboard. THEN, If one radio breaks or an antenna breaks,
I can rewire very quickly.
