The new 2004 Thule Hull-a-port rooftop rack is designated by the model
number 835xt, as opposed to the older 835. I have been unable to
discern what features may have changed, or what the "xt" signifies.
Can anyone help with this? I would also like to hear how Hull-a-Port
owners feel, when using them for sea kayaks. Thanks.

As near as I can tell from the 835xt I just got, they added front/back
attachment lines with a ratchet hook for easy tie-down. Doesn't seem
worth the extra $20-$30 for those lines.

I can see why they added the front and rear tie downs. I got complacent
with my smaller boat and didn't always use tie downs. I paid for it at
60mph when my kayak and roof rack became airborne. Fortunately nobody was
hurt.

Best Thule Rack for Surf ski? - I've got a Thule system for my mountian bike, but am plotting out surf ski prices (probably a lifeguard spec model, for paddling in the bay and getting in shape - it would be wild to race, but I'm not there yet). I'm confused by the options on the Thule...

Glide and Set Kayak Rack by Thule - Does anyone use this combo set? Looks like you can just hook it up to a factory rack and comes with everything. Please let me know if you have any opinions. Thanks Chris
