I just got acquainted with how to rescue someone who is seasick. Seasickness is far
more debilitating than I thought. Effectively, the sick person ins likely to be
unable to paddle or help much at all. I've never had it. The (video) instruction
assumed the person had companions, and would help. Is there some way around this if
you are traveling solo? Perhaps there is some medicine that will reduce the effects
after the sickness occurs. I know there are medicines that will help reduce the onset
of it.

Seasickness in kayaks can be caused by looking at the deck rather than
the horizon. The queasiness comes from getting conflicting messages: the
deck is moving the same way you are, but your inner ear is moving
relative to the earth. Keeping your gaze up can prevent or head off
getting actively sick.
