I'm trying to remove the flywheel from my core 587 to put on the new
one I ordered from SBT. I removed the nut as directed without any
problem, and then tried a pulley puller to remove the flywheel. I even
struck the enter shaft of the puller as directed.

So far I've succeeded in bending the heads of the bolts and stripping
one out of the flywheel.

Any ideas?

If you did that then you did not have the bolts seated in flywheel enough or
your puller is not very good. take it to a dealer & they will pull it for you.
should charge you much as you have it ready to pull.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
