I just got done booking rooms for some of my foreign riders. For the last 2
years I was able to get rooms at Best Western Lake Place Inn for slightly less
than $100/night. This year, the rooms are $65 a night until WF starts then
they go up to $170.00 night plus tax AFTER THE AAA discount. I have been
booking houses and the weekly rate on houses at a few of these websites stays
stagnate all year except for one week....guess which one??? IJSBA Week is
$1000 more per week on one website!!! I see no reason to let the businesses of
Lake Havasu gouge us like this. I would like to see the IJSBA do a financial
analysis of the costs/benefits to having the World Finals at other locations.
This would include possible reductions in entry fees, average lodging costs,
decreased fuel costs, etc. I am sick of seeing the PWC sport generate so much
money for everyone while the PWC operators get the shaft over and over again.

Welcome to capitalism. It's that supply and demand thing.

What about KOA camp grounds? A few tents and a few kegs should get the job done.

 >Welcome to capitalism. It's that supply and demand thing.

Capitalism is premised on the idea that the consumers are informed and manifest
their informed choice in their decision to patronize a particular business.
Also of note is that the supply and demand theory isnt holding out here. The
supply of available rentals and hotels is significantly higher than in years
previous while the demand for these rentals is significantly lower.

What he said. Try New Orleans during Mardi Gras. What do you expect.

Sorry Fraz, but these guys are right. Plane tix to Vegas, and hotel rooms
there go up in Oct. because they have a bunch of conventions, jet ski rentals
in Fla. go up during spring break, etc. They do it because they can. Havasu
has a lot of positives for us, but while it sucks that they take advantage of
us a little, it's a great place to party and race, so I guess we have to grin
and bear it.

I know what you mean, Scott. I don't even like to visit anymore during the
finals. My buddy used to have a house there....that was kind of cool.

I hope nobody thinks I disagree with the notion of capitalism.
I just dont think we are getting the benefit of what we are paying for.
I really think the IJSBA should do the study I suggested. I am hip to the
vacation increases too but the gouging we are getting is unprecedented.
There is more. I appreciate what Walts does for the Bullett Series, but they
rarely have the parts I need in an emergency when I am at WF. I couldnt even
change pistons on an XPL last year. they are the only shop in town and you are
hours away from anything. walts cannot seem to accomodate the dmand that is
placed on them at WF. I dont suggest that they do so either, that is an insane
amount of overhead to carry. But the idea is that a larger metropolitan area
would have several shops.
I bet that Havasu was originally chosen because it was cheap and hassle free.
Well it isnt anymore. I think the IJSBA really should at least look into other
locations and provide us members with a report.

Jim, I am with you, I dont have the fun and adventure that I used to have in
Havasu. I also leave surprisingly broke for a place that has no strip club.

Haha. Ya know...it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to start a strip club
there. I wonder what the city ordinances are on that. Hmmmmm.....

Hey Jim and Juan, I'll open up the strip club. You guys can be the
strippers, just put on a thong and a wig. I'll be your pimp daddy....

When did monkeys learn how to use a computer and put words together? This
is your fault Jim, you can't control your zoo over there.
