I have a 95' SL750 that really runs good. You can run it until it runs out
of gas if ya won't. But if you let it sit for about 20-30 minutes, I can
forget getting it to start. I don't know whats up with it. Yesterday I tried
priming by pouring some fuel down the carbs. It tried to start but sputtered
out. Not sure if I didn't pour enough or if it took too long to put the
breather and all back together. I would say about 5 minutes or so since I
had to wait on boat traffic at the ramp. Point is that I usually have to
start this way if it has been sitting for about a week or so. Just cranks so
much easier this way. Anyway, for other reasons I had enough and trailered
it to bring home. If I had tried again, maybe it would have worked.

After getting home...probably two hours or so. I primed it and it fired
right up with the breather off. Started numerous times there after...just
fine I might add.

I am looking for ideas that may be wrong. Fuel pump(s)...not sure what it is
involved here but thought this may be the source since it seems to loose its
prime for sitting like a week or so but not really sure if this could be the
same issue with the 20-30 minute wait/sitting.

I would appreciate any ideas or things I can check for. Thanks in advance.

Verify the spark is occuring during the "no run" condition. A lot of times
the ignition can have a heat sensitive component (usually coil) which opens
up during the heat soak period after engine run.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

That is a thought...what should I do if I am not getting a spark...How easy
is the coil to replace or is it a job?

Thanks.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
