New, Inflatable Boat Hard Bottom



Fort Myers, Florida USA March 8, 2004 - Micron Plastics Corp. is pleased
to announce the launch of their new patented product called the RIB-Sleeve.
Three years in the works, the RIB-Sleeve converts a soft bottom roll-up
inflatable to a hard bottom RIB. There are two main types of inflatable on
today's market: The soft bottom inflatable which have inflatable keels but
are still sluggish and difficult to maneuver in waves and the second type
are RIB's (fiberglass bottom with inflatable tubes, known as Rigid
Inflatable Boat). These are far superior in performance, handling, but also
costly.



There are hundreds of thousands of roll-up inflatables in use today that
would appreciate the increase in speed, handling and fuel saving that a hard
bottom would offer. Soft bottoms are popular for reasons like price, about a
third the cost of a RIB and stow ability. Many sail boaters cannot store a
RIB and soft bottom rolls ups are easily stored and ideal for campers, RVs
and many more.



The RIB-Sleeve solves all those problems and it easily attaches in minutes.
The RIB-Sleeve is formed from a single piece of ¼" thick polyethylene which
makes this almost indestructible. The RIB-Sleeve covers the bottom portion
of the hull only and is formed into in a deep-vee and protrudes up the front
bow tube into a hook formation literally hooking onto the front tube. At the
stern, the RIB-Sleeve comes up the exterior of the transom about 3" where
two snap buckles and nylon straps are attached with aluminum hooks to the
top of the transom. To install the RIB-Sleeve all one has to do is deflate
the bow area, slip your inflatable over the RIB-Sleeve and re-inflate
ensuring that the bow tube is well inside the front hook which is
substantial at about 10" wide and fasten the two transom straps and your are
done in minutes. With the front tube inflated, the front hook of the
RIB-Sleeve is well secured by the inflated tube and the rear is attached to
the transom.



For Storage, simply deflate your inflatable, remove the transom straps,
roll up your dinghy and store your RIB-Sleeve separately. The RIB-Sleeve
measures about 36" wide by the length of your boat and weights approximately
25 lbs and costs varies from $400 to $700 depending on your boat.



The RIB-Sleeve will be available for the summer of 2004. Manufacturing and
