Does that read stick-on-number plates? My car was delivered with
stick-on plates. I know, because they are both corrugated and starting
to come away from the plate they're stuck on.

Okay - does that read "self-adhesive-number plates" - i.e. the numbers
being stuck on, as opposed to being incorporated somehow into the plate
itself?

It doesn't say which British Standard requirements, indicating that
they don't know either.

If I remember correctly, the reason you can't purchase stick on charaters to
make your own plates is supposed to stop people producing false plates (or
so the govenment think).

I can see that, but why would anyone want to put false plates on a 6ft by 4
ft trailer? I still see trailers around with card plates with details
scrawled on them, 'Old Bill' appears untroubled.
The way to prevent the kind of illegal activity they seek to stop is to
issue us all with our own number plate that moves with us when we change

But then that would be no good for the car trade, would it? Our system
means your registration reveals exactly how old your car is. Anything
not with the current year code is "old", and should be changed for a
newer registration asap.

Belgium, I don't know of anywhere else.

In the Netherlands they recently implemented a law, that every trailer
must have it's own number plate.
Next they are going to introduce law that if a person is caught
driving drunk twice the person will lose his/her driving license.
and then they are considering having a points system for traffic
offences that can lead to loss of license.
It's good to live in a country that get's it's priorities right.
