Low speed problems on a 1998 Polaris SLXH

Will not run well at all below 3500rpm, once it hits that magic RPM number
its rock solid and smooth as glass. What do I look for to try and get this
fool thing to run between idle speed and the magic 2500 RPM without having
to all out dog the gas to get it to run ? Idles ok, but smooth acceleration
from 100RPM to 3000 RPM aint' goanna happen.

When you try and all out floor it from a idle it misses like its running on
1 and 1/2 cylinders..hahaha then sometimes it gets up and goes, other times
you have to put the gas, sometimes it just dies and cuts off. I was told to
look at the low speed jets????
