Here on Okanagan Lake (BC) I've got 3 or 4 spots entered on the GPS that are
out of the normal traffic lanes, typically along the shore line, and away
from homes that overlook the lake. It's worth it to head out, if only to not
have to jerk your head from an after swim snooze every time you hear a boat
go by. Another trick I use is to stick a "Divers Flag "on my VHF antenna.
Informed boaters will stay clear. In short, if you make a "reasonable
effort" not to offend anyone with your private activities then, there's your
argument. Of course some boaters just HAVE to skim by a quietly floating
vessel in an attempt to satisfy some voyeuristic urge in the hope of a
glimpse. No problem. when that happens, I usually stand up and wave. This
unexpected nudie show usually turns the tables pretty quick. In one
instance, a mother started smacking her husband because of the kids onboard.
Sure you MIGHT get in trouble for that one, but hell...its a big lake folks
and there's enough for all of us. It's also helpful to be very clear in your
mind that your human body in not offensive!
Remember to use sunscreen on your private bits...
Cheers !
