Post subject: KVH Azimuth Fluxgate Compass Remote sensor
Archived from groups: rec>boats>electronics (more info?)

I have a KVH Azimuth fluxgate compass with a remote sensor, which is
currently mounted in a steel vessel. Despite this, accuracy is
reasonable. I would like to improve accuracy by mounting the remote
sensor externally on the wooden wheelhouse structure. The KVH sensor
is both large and not waterproof. There are small waterproof sensors
around but the most common available are Raymarine sensors. These I
think have a SeaTalk output which will need converting to NMEA 0183,
which would then be accepted by the KVH head.

Grateful if anyone can confirm??
