I am rebuilding a Pearson 32 which currently has a Universal 11 Hp. I
want to install a new engine and thinking about the Yanmar Sail Drive
unit instead of the traditional shaft driven props. Has anyone
attempted this operation before and does anyone have any suggestions or
comments.
Thanks, Willy

Glen,

Thank you for responding to my post. I am a life long woodworker and a
teacher of computer graphics in a new jersey high school. I have to
complement you on your boat project and the website that you designed
to depict it. I thought long and hard on building a wooden sail, and
read a great deal about it, ultimately did not do because ididn't have
the time to do it right. My favorite book on the topic was written by
Bud Macintosh a New England boat builder.

Relative to my project I haven't decided yet on sail drive or
traditional but I have decided on Beta Marine instead of Yanmar
basically because of the price difference, engine service ability when
installed, and I like Kubota engines.

Sincerely, Leo Lotowycz

Continued success with your project, you are certainly a motivational
force to all of us.
