I have a 97 Polaris slt780 that seems to idle too fast. Can anyone tell me
how to adjust the idle and how to check the idle. It seems to go too fast
in the water at idle.

It should idle at 1200 rpm in the water and 3000 out. There is an
adjuster screw at the carb where the throttle cable mounts.

This is a 700 not a 780, does that matter?

So do you take the air cleaner cover off to get to it?

Any idea where to hook up the dwell meter to check the idle? On a car it is
hooked to the negative pole of the coil and ground.

No. It's accessible without removing anything.
