Frozen Steering - My Grady White suffers from a frozen steering, which appears to be the stainless bar that is supposed to slide back and forth inside the tilt tube of the 120 HP outboard. The whole system was replaced last year. I am guessing that..

I am looking for a new steering system.
Teleflex makes a hydraulic system for outboards with 150hp or less.

Does anyone have any experience with these that would share some good or bad
comments? Is it better than the cable type? The ad says it will steer more
easily but steering effort is not an issue. I am more interested in how long
this will last compared to a cable system.
What kind of problems do these systems typically have besides the inevitable
leak?

I currently have 3 boats, 1 has the NFB 3.0 cable (Safe T-II),

2nd has the NFB 4.2 rotary cable
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.teleflexmorse.com/Octane8/websites/TeleflexMorse/scripts/PDF/nfb4.2.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.teleflexmorse.com/Octane8/websites/TeleflexMorse/scripts/PD...fb4.2.p</a>
and the 3rd has the Seastar hydraulic system.
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.seastarsteering.com/OVERVIEW/oview.htm?../OVERVIEW/oviewF3.htm&1" target="_blank">http://www.seastarsteering.com/OVERVIEW/oview.htm?../OVERVIEW/oviewF3.htm&1</a>
I wouldn't bother with the 3.0 which is probably the most common system out
there. In my opinion the 4.2 NFB system is every bit as good as the
hydraulic system and about half the price. The 4.2 is mated to a 225 evinrude
and the hydraulic is mated to a 250 johnson and they both steer excellent,
if anything the 4.2 is easier to steer.
