Post subject: Hurricane boat opinions?
Archived from groups: rec>boats, others (more info?)

Hello,

My girlfriend plans to buy a Hurricane deck boat. She swears by these
boats. I am a newbie to boats and cruising.

I would like to hear some pros and cons about the Hurricane boats. Are
there any web sites that are dedicated to Hurricane boats?

Any information and advice you can share is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hurricane's are made by Godfrey Marine and are excellent boats.
Godfrey makes one hell of a boat in terms of form, fit and function
and have been doing so for a long time. While everything has an
exception, this is one company you can trust to build a quality
product.

I can't speak to Hurricane, but their Polarkraft, Polar and Sanpan
pontoon boats are first rate. I can only assume that carries over to
the Hurricane boats. Those Hurricane boats that I've seen up close
and personal have been few, but I haven't noticed anything negative at
casual glance.

If you are asking about pro/con on deck boats in general, I can't
answer that - never owned one.

Good luck.

Hurricane is a good boat. Should have no issues w/ the boat itself. If
used, you need to have an inspection done to verify engine, outdirve, etc...

As for deck boats.
Pros: Carry lots of people, lots of room for all your stuff, good overall
speed (assuming you get a large enough engine - VCool, can ski behind
(assuming you get a VCool.
Cons: Rough ride compared to a lot of boats. (an open bow runabout will
ride better). Large heavy boat for trailering (definetly need a full size
pickup or SUV for this one). If comparing to a pontoon - cannot go slow
like on a pontoon (it is either idle along or go 20+ mph like any other
boat).
