Just like an analog clock.

I believe the large (blue) hand advances one mark around the perimeter for
every engine hour.

In 60 hours, the large hand will accomplish an entire circuit of the gauge.

The little hand (white) keeps track of the number of 60 hour increments.

I think the meter reads 505 hours.

I think you're right, except the white hand is a minute hand. (I should have
mentioned that it moves one RPM.) The little green hand that's partially
visible behind it is the slow hand, I think. Notice that it's pointing on
the 480 side of the space between 480 and 540. I would think that it should
be closer to halfway, but maybe that's an illusion.

Any idea what the pattern of blue tick marks indicates?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I might be wrong, but it looks like 530 hrs to me.

25 (the big blue needle on the outer 0 to 60 hrs scale) past 480 (the
white needle on the out of focus ... er fuzzy ... inner 0 to 600 hrs green
scale) = 505

504 hours and 52 minutes. There are 3 hands. Green reads 480 hours (just
past by almost 25 hours). Blue reads 24 hours (almost 25 hours based on 52
minutes). White reads 52 minutes.

Catch is - has it already been around once which would add another 600
hours? (or twice)

One other point....connect it to power for an hour
or ten to verify which hand(s) move over that time
period.

Hour meter on engine? - I ran into someone else on the river today.. at the marina actually... who had a sea ray a few years older than mine.. He made mention that sea ray started putting a USB port in their engine compartment a few years ago that read the hours on the engine..

Per hour - How much does a experienced mecanic (Volvo Penta)earn per hour in USA? Ingvar.

How much does your boat cost per hour? - I just ran the numbers on the last 2000 hours on my boat since my repower in spring 2002. The engine was 5600 in the box with cables and controls prop was 300 oil changes and filters was 447 other maintenance was 175 The boat itself can be considered..

113 gallons per hour... - Yep. The latest Sport Fishing magazine has a profile of a 42' Yellowfin center console with FOUR 300-hp outboards. Engines burn 113 gph at WOT (67 mph) but only (!) 41 gph at a 40 mph cruise. Well, fools and their money are soon parted, but I believe...

Battery Meter - For you information - Checked with my Merc representative and was given the following information regarding a 2003 90HP Merc outboard. With engine running the battery gauge should reflect a volt reading of 14.5 to 15 and since mine reads 14.8 I'm right....
