Aren't they bony?
The fish the little kids target from the floats in the local marinas
are "pile perch", and they may be different from your yellow perch- but
a pile perch seems like it's about 80% bones and maybe 20% meat.....
Too much work to cook and eat, for what little meat you get, (IMO) >> Stay informed about: Heading out to do some yellow perch fishing tomorrow |

Oh, good God....you can't even clean your own fish???? That's half the
fun, a few brews and a fillet knife. But, then given your bipolar
disorder and all, you probably aren't allowed around sharp objects. >> Stay informed about: Heading out to do some yellow perch fishing tomorrow |

Caught 63 of them. They are in the cooler at the local fish cleaner waiting
to be descaled and butterfly filleted. I will pick them up tomorrow.

Boney? I guess just as much as any fish. Their bones are small and you do
have to be careful when eating them even when professionally filleted.
Unless you catch jumbos the meat yield on the fish is only fair to good.
But even the small to medium ones yield enough meat that 3 or 4 are enough
for most anyone when cooked properly.
We do not keep the small ones. >> Stay informed about: Heading out to do some yellow perch fishing tomorrow |

Yellow perch are fresh water types. Pile perch are salt water type. All
are bony but the yellows are tasty.

We did. Heck, my wife kissed me on the cheek on the way home for the great
time! It doesn't get any better than that!!
We will pick the fish up tomorrow..........descaled and butterfly filleted
professionally...........all 63 of them.
Preparing fresh caught yellow perch for the freezer or cooking is quite
different from preparing bass or walleye, even over a bottle of beer. At
least one person here does not quite understand that..........I am sure you
know who I am talking about. as he is the only one bitter that I had a nice
day on the water with my wife catching fish.
How sad. >> Stay informed about: Heading out to do some yellow perch fishing tomorrow |

I think you mean JohnH.
And yes, I was jumped on by Kevin for that positive comment to John.
Kevin also jumped on me today for complimenting him on his advice in another
thread about a stripped bolt head, one which he offered good advice and
refrained from name calling. He called me a twit for complimenting him.
Go figure.
