We spent a relaxing afternoon and evening with a couple of friends, first
going to see National Treasure Book of Secrets (very good movie) then
heading out to eat.
We then spent the evening chatting and finally watching Oceans 13 on
DVD..........another good movie.
Our friends went upstairs to the guest bedroom to retire at around
11.......but not before we brought in the New Year (an hour early) with a
toast and kisses/hugs.

We started at the stables, some of the stalls obvously were not done
Sunday, heavy day, long day and my wife's arm is hurt. Came home and
went out for a little V8 and soda then suited up the kid and went out
back to play with the dirtbike. Pretty kool, her first bike and the
first time she played out the clutch, she drove it away. Of couse she
is tiny and the bike is a 110 so she probably could not stall if
unless she held the brakes;)
Midnight was met with a drink for all, which none of us finished but
we did stay up watching Megan and Bill and playing the sickstring;)
Went down around 2 am... slept in, till about 8 and we will spend the
day riding horsies and dirtbikes. I really don't do either anymore
except to teach, I will sit around with a geetar and a toddy, watching
and smilin' at my girls... >> Stay informed about: Happy New Year Folks |

We had an exciting New Year's Eve day. I went out early and picked up
some lobsters at the feeeesh store, picked up the rest of the trimmings
at the grocery, make a fast run down to the shoreline to see what was
happening - really dead calm, beautiful day on the water but only 39F
when I was there - got home and off the roads before the influx of early
drunks started driving, cooked dinner, ate it, and then we watched a
terrific concert on public tele of the NY Philharmonic and violinist
Joshua Bell*, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Saw Dick Clark in his
post-stroke appearance on his NYE show - sad to see, though I am glad
he's still with us.
Today, we have a choice of a New Year's Day party in DC *or* a movie at
the local theater. I'm opting for the latter.
* Despite the fact that the concert was telecast live (in HD), and that
the music was not electronically remixed, altered, or played through
some esoteric super-duper $9,000.000 sound system and therefore sounded
"better than nature intended," it was still a terrific show. The music
was great, the performances were terrific, and even the camera work on
the soloist and various sections of the orchestra was super. It's nice
to hear music played on real "unreinforced" instruments, as real
composers intended.
I've heard Bell on CDs, but I'd never seen him perform. He is
remarkable, a relatively young master violinist who unlike many of his
peers knows how to play with some soul. >> Stay informed about: Happy New Year Folks |

I went to the bathroom several times on New Year's Eve.

Wife and I went to see it last night. We both enjoyed it. Yes there will
be a National Treasure page 47. But as the wife said. Nice to see an
action movie without major explosions, blood flying everywhere. Some plot
to the movie. >> Stay informed about: Happy New Year Folks |
