Use a short jumper between one battery's "+" terminal and the other
battery's "-" terminal. Use the same size wire you use for your
other batteries. You now have a 12v battery. Treat it like any
other 12v battery.
On my boat, I have a 20 hp inboard, and am probably a fool for using
typical car sized cables. Big waste of weight, if you ask me, as my
starter probably uses about 50 amps to start.
