I bought a Holux on eBay. It plugs into the USB port on my laptop and works
very well.

Gordon:

which Holux did you end up buying? Is it bluetooth, or just USB
connection?

Thanks,

Gary

It is just USB.
I don't have it here so can't tell you the model. It came with Microsoft
Streets and Trips as a package deal. The same package may still be on eBay.

I bought the same Holux one and it began failing a month later. I don't
believe it is waterproof.

Recently, I replaced it with the USB Garmin 18 and it works great, IF you
buy GPSgate, which acclimates it to my Nobeltec program.

Combining multiple VHFs on single ant - I have a VHF installed in our cabin with only a remote speaker in cockpit. Instead of replacing the unit with a newer VHF with remote mic and/or station options, I would like to simply add another standard VHF radio at the helm and share the antenna..

2 VHFs sharing 1 VHF antenna - I have an Apelco VHF mounted in the nav station with a remote speaker in the cockpit. A Raymarine handheld is kept near the helm. Of course the handheld has nowhere near the range of the fixed VHF below. Instead of replacing the [perfectly good] Apleco..
