Archived from groups: alt>satellite>gps, others (more info?)

Hi,
I am using Fugawi 4.1. I used to be able to set a series of route points
and the auto-pilot would follow these without problem.

I installed a Noland Multiplexer, so I could interface my depthsounder
and have depths in the tracks instead of height.

This all works well.

However I now find Fugawi will no longer follow the route with the
auto-pilot.

I tried another Nav Program (OziExplorer) and although the function is
rated 'experimental' it works just as it should.

I have written to Fugawi, but there support is very poor and the contact
staff do not know much about anything ( they even said Fugawi does not use
the Autopilot APB sentence. It does of course and is listed in the manual
and help files. ). I have had so much trouble with this buggy software they
probably consider me a nuisance. I probably should buy something else but I
like the interface of Fugawi and am used to it, I really do not want to
learn another software.

If anybody has a solution or has had this problem I sure would like to
get a cure.

Thanks
Oliver Fleming

Maybe there is a difference in the NMEA sentences from Fugawi to Ozi
Explorer and the difference is causing the Noland multiplexer to not
passing all the sentences, an initialization string, or something like
that to the autopilot.

If might be worth the trouble to ask Noland about it since the sentences
from both softwares will work until the multiplexer is used.

If you can use Hyperterminal or another software to capture a log file
of the startup sentences and a few sets of APB sentences from the two
software, and post those here, maybe someone can spot the problem.

Try lowering your baud rate. I had this happen and all I had to do was
adjust the baud.

Here are the log files from both programs. I have set a waypoint and told
the programs to navigate to it.

Bear in mind OziExplorer works and Fugawi does not. I would like to know
what to do to get it going.

In the Fugawi log, all the significant parameters in the NMEA APB sentence
are missing.
There is no auto pilot that can steer to a waypoint with this data.
