You gotta love it!

Sorry Harry, your dream of a Market crash does not look like it is
happening.

It's not my dream. My interest in economic news is mostly limited to
whether working Americans have decent jobs and whether unsettled markets
will hurt Republicans. There's nothing devious about my political
positioning.

Not according to your posts yesterday about the Dow sliding.

The Dems are trying to promote the idea of a recession as hard as they
can...........knowing that if you repeat something enough times folks start
believing it.

This surge on the market today destroyed that image not only to the working
Americans but the world.

The idea of a recession? Hehehe.

It's a bit more than an idea. There are many economists who believe we
are in one or on the edge of one, and will be in one by this summer.
Just in time for the elections.

The surge in the market is irrational, as is the NYSE.

Today may have been a "dead cat bounce". If the next couple of days don't
show gains with high volume all was for naught.

I don't think we've seen the last of the market decline for this cycle.

Then why did you try to make such a big deal of the opening bell drastic

What I meant was that if the rally today is not confirmed in the next couple
of days with more gains on high volume we're heading right back down and
probably further. High volume is key.

Not necessarily. The market value is probably where it should
be............the corrections have taken place and human emotions from
Monday (world market) and Tuesday morning have come and gone.

No need for continued surges to restore world confidence in the US economy.
That was shown 2 days, even though the market closed down
yesterday...........but far better than the initial 450 point drop 10
minutes after the opening bell.

The declining value of the USD can also be a blessing in disguise as our
exports will certainly benefit greatly from it.

Quarterly results are going to start occurring and that will tell the
tale of the 2008 economy.

I don't agree.

The lows were tested against the bounce - it may test again, but I
think we've found the bottom in this market.

Volume doesn't necessarily mean success - in the new paradigm, volume
is a component only - not necessarily the true measure of worth or
support.

Yes, but high volume "together" with rising prices will make me feel a lot
better. I sure hope the rumored "stimulus" package packs enough teeth to
help get out of this current mess.

I believe the part announced today, helping those with mortgage problems, is
a bigger lift than the 800 bux or whatever to every tax payer. If the plan
works, some of the naysayers around here will probably be very unhappy. Cool

Maybe the banking regulators will take something away from this credit mess
and instill some regulations that won't allow this to happen again. Of
course there will always be some new and improved method to get us in
trouble.

If past is prologue, and it usually is, the only way we'll now the
true bottom is well after it has happened. Although today's market
looked a lot like a classic capitulation bounce, it would mark one of
the shortest bear markets in history if so. I'm inclined to think
there is still more bad news lurking out there, and that today's
action was just a speed bump on the road downward.
