A couple of years ago we were staying overnight at a small marina in
northern Georgian Bay, Lake Huron--an area of pristine fresh water. The
boat in the next slip had an Optimax engine that was running a bit
rough. He departed the slip about 5 p.m.; we stayed overnight. When he
started his engine there was quite a bit of oil discharged into the
water. When I awoke the next morning there was an oily scum line on my
hull that I had to scrub off. Based on this experience there is no doubt
that a two-stroke DFI can discharge unburned oil in its exhaust.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
