Comments on Shred Ready Helmet?

I'm a bit suprised I didn't get more comments on the above helmets,
although, I drifted onto this topic under another thread I started.

I'm just looking for general comments on price, popularity, durability,
protection and satisfaction anyone might have. In my local area, N. Calif.
near the Yuba River and maybe the American River, they seem to be very
popular among advanced kayakers.

Having gone no farther than an in-shop inspection, I can't do much more than
confirm that they are popular. Along with several other brands, maligned
and not.

The HOG system makes me a bit nervous, as do specialized boot laces favored
by some snowboard boot manufacturers. My fear, probably unjustified, is
that a failure will incur greater hassle to repair, and until then amplify
the potential for injury.

IIRC, the liner is integrated, which in my mind makes it a better bet than
some of the competition which sells a separate shell and ethafoam liner.

The AHM helmets seem to be competitive pricewise with other plastic helmets,
while the others fit well within the composite market.

I can confirm that the rocks in both drainages are durable and hard.
