Post subject: 6 Canoe Hypothermia Deaths in Banff 1982?
Archived from groups: rec>boats>paddle (more info?)

Did 6 people die of hypothermia in Banff, 1982,
by carefully lowering themselves out of their
canoes into the water for some unknown reason
and then being overcome by hypothermia?

In the book, "A Walk in the Woods," Bill Bryson
quotes another book, "Natural Acts" by David
Quammen as such. I can find no other references
to it on the internet. Backwoods myth?
