Hi,

Just bought some charts off ebay.

I went to ebay and searched for "chart newfoundland" and found this guy.

Sold me the charts for $25 and included SeaClear on the disk. Sea Clear
is a free download but nice to have in one place.

Just passing it on,

Howard

Seems that some of the charts are now in the public domain, at least
the maptech bsb charts seem to be, if you have the chart numbers, they
can be dowloaded.

Need a better program than seaclear, to use the enc charts as well,
which seem to be coming out more and more.

The Capn seems to be a good one, so I hear, as does coastal explorer
and works with both.
Just downloaded oziexplorer v 4, which is supposed to as well.
Seems like a shame to have to pay to try a program, must be a way not
to Wink

Used to be a place called "Blue Hawaii" or something that shared
charts and proggies to try before you bought, so you got what you
wanted.

Would be nice to know if its still around somewhere..............

I'd LOVE to get Canadian BSB3 charts, but can't seem to find them, free or
otherwise. Only a few programs support BSB4, which is what the Digital
Ocean charts are (I have those, and have been running Maptech Navigator,
but now am looking at OziExplorer)

You say they can be downloaded: do you have a link, please?

"Blue Hawaii" was a P2P network for sharing charts it disappeared a few
years ago not long after someone up-loaded a bunch of random charts with the
geo-referencing files doctered to give a wrong position. Who knows the
history of any free or cheap BSB 3 charts. I would not trust any
electronic chart that I did not personally see the original disk, Maptech or
NDI.
