I currently have three small boats of various sizes from 8' to 16'. I'd
like to store them in some sort of rack but one that I can easily get a boat
in or out. My location for this would be on the side of my garage. I'd
also like to be able to fold the rack out of the way if necessary and cover
it with a tarp in the winter.

My current thought is to use galvanized pipe to construct the rack - I'm
wondering if anyone else has done something similar and if my idea would
work?

A neighbour made one of 2x6's. The 2x6's could be bolted together so
removing a bolt from the cross bracing to the upright allows the supports
to drop down out of the way.

I sit my small aboats on their sides on pegs. Boats are hard chined. Pegs
are at the same angle as the flare of the sides. A rope keeps the boats from
falling off the pegs. Boats take up less horizontal space that way than
upside down.

Take a look. This was supposed to be temporary, but four years later, it's still
in service.

Very nice - I think I'm going to use some of those ideas myself.

Thanks
