I am in need of a material to re-core the deck of my
sailboat. It was originally balsa. I would like to purchase
a substitute product from someone willing to sell their
excess. I would need about 15 - 20 sq. ft. I'm in NY on Long
Island and willing to pay shipping expenses.

John

I used scraps of exterior spruce ply and lots of gooey epoxy bog. So
far, no earthquake.

YMMV

John,

One of the most famous builders - Lunn Laminates - used to be someplace
on western LI. If they still exist and you can locate them, they might
ba able to help.

Balsa is still used because it is both cheaper and better that most of
the foam produces out there. As long as the care is taken so it does not
get wet enough to rot, it will last as long. End grain balse is
actually pretty good at isolating water that does get in.

Ureatane does saturate and delaminate just as easily - I know where
there are several Boston Whaler boats you can get Real Cheap.
