Mark - Our WEB site is not up to date yet, so it does not have the
2004 SXR Ignition listed. As far as the over temp sensor goes, the
2003 SXR and the 2004 SXR both have over temp limp mode capability,
however the 2003 uses the old style temperature sensitive switch and
the 2004 uses the new style temperature sensitive sensor that measures
the voltage across the sensor as the resistance in the sensor
increases as the water temperature increases. Both over temp. systems
result in the CDI putting the motor into limp mode (low Rev. limit
3,500 RPMs). The 2004 SXR also has an additional Air Temperature
Sensor which works in the same manner as the water temp. Sensor,
except that the timing is increased up to 6 degrees as the air
temperature increases, to make up for the loss of air density at the
higher air temperature.
The price for the new Advent Ignition for the 2004 Kawasaki SXR is $
485.00
