97 gsx questions

Hi all. I went and looked at a 97 gsx my friend is looking at buying. I plan to
go back with her next week and give a better look and she is going to take it
for a ride. The gsx has the 782 engine. Two things I noticed, 1. oil collected
in the bottom of the hull and... 2. a black filmy residue on the exhaust
manifold that looked like it might have been a slight exhaust leak

Any areas where oil would leak on this model.. ie oil tank.. etc? I plan to get
all the oil out of the bottom of the hull and see if any more collects during
the ride. Also, I know the early 951s had problems with exhaust manifold
leaks, but i didnt think this was a problem with the 782s? any advice here? I
figure ill do the same.. clean it off and take it for a ride and see if any
thing else develops

Other than that, the ski is in really great shape, so im suggesting she buy it
if those two areas i noticed are ok, and it runs good.

He originally said 2 grand for the ski, trailer, cover, and life vest, now he
realized how much it was worth and is asking 2300.. which i still think isnt a
bad deal considering.
