Hi,

I own a '95 Seadoo GTX that have the pump bearings shot.

I took it to a local dealer and was quoted $600-800 to have
it repaired - is this a reasonable amount?

Also, if I decide to fix it myself, do I need to pull out the drive
shaft and its bearings and seals or could I remove just the
nozzle, impeller housing, etc to replace the bearings? Any
special tools required?

TIA

I just had my 99 GTI impeller shaft, bearings and cone replaced. $368 at
Richardson Motor Sports, Richardson, Texas. No special tools to take the
pump off the ski, but you need special tools to remove the impeller. You
can send it off to www.impros.com and let them overhaul the pump. Then
you'll have to reinstall it.

geez,is he replacing the whole pump?

tell me what parts he is going to put in.

also if you are going to pull the pump, you may as well replace the carrier
bearing while you have it apart.the old ounce of prevention deal.

Simon,
I charged a customer $55.00 for parts ( two bearings, a cone oring , pump
oil and one seal) and $97.50 for labor to do the same job today. $600-$800 ?
Yeah, I'd say he is OVERPRICED!
