Archived from groups: rec>sport>jetski (more info?)

Ran a 1998 Yamaha XL 1200 everyday for a week solid without a problem. It
started fine this morning and was running at 50 mph down a calm lake when it
suddenly lost power. With throttle all the way down the most it will do now
is only 30 mph. No warning lights. No evidence of engine overheating.
Changed plugs. Changed fuel filter. Fogged engine. Still same outcome.
Only goes 30 mph. Otherwise, seems to run fine ... no skipping or rough
running. Have never had difficulty with the engine until today.

Anyone have ideas on what to check next ?

Thanks for the help.

You need to make sure you're getting a spark to each cylinder next.
Could be a CDI problem. Also need to check to see if fuel is getting
through to each cylinder. From the sounds of it, you have one cylinder
that is performing badly or not at all.
