This motor came on a '63 Thompson I am restoring. I took it into the water
after 2 years of work. The motor will propel the boat hesitantly, but even
though there is a vent opening in the bottom plate to allow air into the
system, the boat will sputter and die unless I leave the access panel open.
close the panel and the engine will sputter and quit. any suggestions would
be helpful, I have removed and cleaned the carbs, cleaned the screen over
the opening, changed the plugs, and run fresh gas.
