It would of course depend on condition etc. Then it depends on what engine
it is and if it is complete. I helped a friend restore a Shepard of similar
vintage with a 6cyl flat head engine. He bought a parts motor for a few
hundred that was complete and running but not usable. The transmission
could be worth more since the flat heads of that era could also be found in
fork lifts, compressors and even in some cases Checker Cab's so blocks and
cranks are not hard to come by. The important items are those specific to
marine use, manifolds, water pumps etc etc and the tranny.
Try searching out several wooden boat clubs online, you should generate
interest in some of them with those items. I know my friend is looking for
a water pump for his, he has a bronze gear style and it is no longer
serviceable, his Grey Marine engine upgraded to a positive displacement pump
at a later date and that is what we are looking for.
