Archived from groups: rec>boats (more info?)

My 1988 100HP Sea Ray Mercury outboard runs rough at idle. I'm looking for
things to check. Motor runs great as soon as you run it up a bit.
I need the correct spark plug gap for this motor.

Does anyone know how to adjust the idle speed on a Merc 40.. - Greetings, How do you adjust the idle speed on a Merc 40HP, 2 cylinder, 2-stroke? I adjusted the cable via the barrel nut, but it made no difference in the idle speed... There's a threaded rod above the linkage, but I don't want to fiddle with anything...
